1,177,280. Heat-treating cables. BRITISH INSULATED CALLENDER'S CABLES Ltd. Nov.21, 1968 [Nov.22, 1967], No.53094/67. Heading C7N. Mineral-insulated cables of the kind comprising at least one conductor of high nickel content and a sheath of stainless steel or of the alloy sold under the (Registered Trade Mark) "Inconel", with compacted powdered mineral insulation therebetween, is subjected to an annealing operation or to unnealing operations during which the cable is precluded from contact with hydrogen whilst at a temperature at which hydrogen could penetrate the cable sheath. The annealing may be carried out in vacuum or in a non-deleterious environment such as argon or air.
