Abstract
1,177,027. Iron-nickel alloys. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. April 19, 1968 [May 18, 1967], No. 18641/68. Heading C7A. [Also in Division C1 A leading-in conductor sealable to soft glass with a coefficient of thermal expansion of approximately 90 x 10<SP>-</SP> 7 consists of a core of Ni-Co-Fe alloy with a copper sheath brazed thereto, the core comprising, in weight percentages, Ni 38-46, Co 4-6, Mn 0À25-1À25, the balance iron and incidental impurities, the sheath being of oxygen-free copper and constituting 16-20% of the total weight of the composite conductor. The inflection point of the conductor is higher than the annealing point 433‹C., of the glass, the longitudinal coefficient of thermal expansion is about 70 x 10<SP>-7</SP> and the radial coefficient 90 x 10<SP>-7</SP> and the .conductor can be sealed to the glass in diameters of from 50 mils up to and including 125 mils.
