Abstract
1,176,751. Feeding webs. SCHNELLPRESSENFABRIK FRANKENTHAL ALBERT & CIE. A.G. 25 April, 1968 [27 April, 1967], No. 19575/68. Heading B8R. A support for a roll of paper or the like in, e.g. a printing machine, comprises a shaft carrying a tongue 1 for engaging the end of the roll, and a bush 3 carrying the bearings 2, 2<SP>1</SP> for the shaft and being mounted on a supporting arm 4, the bush 3 being closed at its end remote from the tongue 1 by a cover 8 of larger diameter than the bush 3 and constituting a piston movable axially by fluid pressure to bring the tongue 1 into engagement with the end of the roll or to retract the tongue for removal of the roll. A space 16 for receiving the cover 8 in the bore of the arm 4 is lined by a bush 7 and is closed at its outer end by a cap 5. Compressed air connections 12, 14 are provided for supplying fluid pressure to one or the other side of the cover 8.
