Abstract

1311459 Feeding webs FMC CORP 15 Nov 1971 [4 Dec 1970] 52920/71 Heading B8R A roller assembly for feeding webs to or from apparatus such as bag-forming or wrapping machines comprises first and second co-operating rollers 16, 18, the roller 16 being rotatably but rigidly supported at each end portion in frame members 12, 14 and at its central portion by a yoke 48, whilst the roller 18 is biased towards the roller 16 by means of individual power cylinders 106, 110 at positions aligned with the said end and central portions of the roller 16. The biasing force applied by the cylinder 110 is arranged to be larger than that applied by the cylinders 106 so that a uniform gripping force is produced along the nip of the rollers 16, 18. The cylinders 106, 110 co-operate with respective pivoted support arms 84, 94 which carry the roller 18.
