Abstract

1,236,869. Feeding webs. DR. OTTO C. STRECKER K.G., and MASCHINENFABRIK ZUM BRUDERHAUS G.m.b.H. 18 Nov., 1969 [27 Nov., 1968], No. 56486/69. Heading B8R. [Also in Division F2] In an arrangement for feeding web material, e.g. of laminated paper, from one or more supply rolls to processing apparatus such as a crosscutter, the web passes through the nip between a driven lower roller and an upper roller (Figs. 1 and 2, not shown), the lower roller being of relatively rigid construction and the upper roller 21 being constituted by a plurality of heavy discs 23 which together with adjustment rings 24 are mounted on an elastic shaft 22. The discs 23 and the lower roller may be provided with covers of elastic material, and the upper roller may be mounted on pneumatically controlled arms which can compensate for the "overhang" weight of the roller when feeding narrow webs The Specification explains how this construction enables the application pressure in the nip to be kept uniform over the entire width of the web, whereby feeding errors and relative displacement between the layers of a laminated web are eliminated.
