Abstract

1441113 Rolling machines for leather STROJOSVIT NARODNI PODNIK 5 Oct 1973 [3 Nov 1972] 46607/73 Heading C6C [Also in Divisions B6 and D1] A continuously operating machine for pressing, ironing, or producing patterns on sheet material, especially leather, comprises an endless conveyer band 29 arranged to convey the material between a driven heated cylinder 24 and driven pressing rollers 9, 10, the cylinder having an exchangeable jacket 44 and being rotatably mounted in end supports 17, 18 which are removably suspended from an upper frame 21 having one end connected to an adjacent end of a bottom frame 1 by a clamp or tie unit 27 and both pressing rollers are mounted in forked end-plates and have bearings which are suspended on bell-crank levers 11, 12, the latter having one of their ends pivotally mounted on a carrier 4 and their other ends connected to power units 15, 16 which are pivotally suspended from the end supports. Preferably the conveyer band passes around a tensioning roller 31 and a guide roller 34, hydraulic rams 32, 33 being provided for adjusting the position of the tensioning roller and one end of the guide roller being provided with a pivotal joint and its other end being connected to a double-acting hydraulic ram 35, control circuits for all the hydraulic rams being connected in parallel to a source of pressure fluid, and both chambers of the double-acting ram being supplied with pressure fluid through a distributer valve 36 controlled by an edge sensor 37. The exchangeable jacket of the cylinder may be connected to an inner drum by centering wedges 48 which engage in longitudinally extending grooves 49 formed on the interior surface of the jacket and in wedgeshaped grooves 50 formed on the outer surface of the drum 45.
