Abstract

1,173,470. Electromagnetic switches. BUNKER-RAMO CORP. 10 April, 1967 [11 April, 1966], No. 16333/67. Heading H1N. A coaxial switch has a movable contact bar 38 mounted with one end movable between feed contacts 20, 22 and its other end movable between stop surfaces of projections 42, 44 of a conductor 40 to which the incoming cable core 36 is connected. Contacts 20, 22 are connected to outgoing cable cores 28, 30 and are supported on insulators 24, 26 and the conductor 40 is supported on insulators 34. The sheaths of cables 17, 19, 21 are connected to a metallic housing 10 containing the contacts and a biasing compression spring 52 which acts on an insulator 50 located above the bar 38 and around the end of a further insulator 48 having a socket 56 for a convex surface of a plunger 58 slidable in the casing 10 and acted upon by a leaf spring 64 on the end of a rockable armature 62 of an electromagnet 60. The end 39 of the bar 38 is bifurcated to ride over the conductor 40, the projections 42, 44 being closer together than contacts 20, 22 to provide rocking and wiping contact engagement.
