A switch for coaxial connectors comprises a housing 12, Fig. 2, having a pair of contact blades 50, 51 extending from a pair of central conductors 46, 48 with their ends overlapping adjacent to aligned apertures 36, 60 provided on opposite sides of the housing for the releasable attachment of alternative supports 76, 99 carrying contacts 98, 108, 110 or insulated terminations, depending upon the switching function required. In the arrangement shown, the contact 98 is a central conductor and contacts 108, 110 are integral with the metal support 99 for shorting the unconnected transmission lines. In modifications, a layer of insulation may be inserted on the inner faces of the members 108, 110 to isolate the unswitched lines. Alternatively, a U-shaped fixed contact 170, Fig. 7, may be attached either to a central conductor 172 for alternative engagement by the spring arms 50, 51 or may be mounted on an insulator (not shown) and connected to resistors 168 to place a required impedance in the unswitched line. Pivoted armature 122, 124, Fig. 5, of an electromagnet 112 actuates the arms 50, 51 through insulated push-pins 144, 146, the return movement being limited by a cantilever back stop 129.
