Abstract

1314335 Terminals NSF Ltd 24 July 1970 [24 July 1969] 37248/69 Heading H2E [Also in Division H1] In a switch comprising an insulating housing 10 providing recesses 12, 13, 14, 15, containing fixed contacts 17, 18, 19, 20, and a movable actuator 26 carrying revolvable contacts 29, 30, spring steel wire trap members 21, 22, 23, 24 are provided to grip connecting wires inserted through holes 12a against the terminal portions, such as 17a, of the fixed contacts. A terminal block 73, Figs. 3, 6 (not shown), may also be provided, the connecting wire passing through a bore 77 in block 73 in which it is held by screw 78 and also being held by the wire trap member, or alternatively it may just be held by block 73 above, the resilient wire trap member serving to urge block 73 against the terminal portion of the fixed contact. When two connecting wires are to be held to one fixed contact, a wire trap member 22 may grip one wire against terminal portion 18a, Fig. 4 (not shown), and a hole 82, Figs. 4, 5 (not shown) may be provided in housing 10 adjacent the rear of terminal portion 18a and the second wire may be inserted through hole 82 being retained therein by a resilient tongue 18b on portion 18a. Alternatively when two wires are to be connected to a fixed contact, the fixed contact may have a terminal portion at each end and at one end a wire-trap member as shown in Fig. 1 may grip the wire and at the other end of the contact a hole and projecting tongue may be provided, Fig. 6 (not shown).
