Abstract
960,168. Electromagnetic relays. ENGLISH ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. Oct: 19, 1962 [Oct. 25, 1961], No. 38167/61. Heading H2B. In the inoperative position the free end of a movable contact spring 20 of an electromagnetic relay engages a stop 15 on the relay armature 10 which also engages a slidable nylon pin 16 arranged, when the armature is attracted to the core 2, to engage the spring 20 and complete its movement which is started by the stop 15. The spring 20, fixed contact spring 18 and stop spring 23 are all made of phosphor bronze and are secured in a clamp 22 on a frame 24 which supports the electromagnetic core 2, coil 1 and yoke 3. A screw 8 can be rotated to adjust the position of a nut 7 carrying a bracket 6. The latter supports an iron plug which extends into the core 2 to vary the reluctance of the relay. When the plug 5 is moved from the extreme left hand position a light spring 17 between the bracket 6 and the armature is strained and assists the contact spring in biasing the armature to the inoperative position. Two sets of contacts may be provided (Fig. 2, not shown).
