Abstract
1,059,513. Electromagnetic relays. SQUARE D CO. March 16, 1965 [May 29, 1964], No. 22271/64. Heading H2B. Contact bounce is reduced by arranging that the engagement of the fixed contact 77 with the movable contact 68, which is carried at one end of an arm 57 centrally supported by a rod 45 movable with the plunger armature 47, occurs at a position offset from the axis of the rod 45 so that the arm and rod tilt due to the reaction force between the contacts and the rod frictionally engages a guiding bush 46. The other end of arm 57 is connected by a strap 76 to a terminal member 72 mounted with the other terminal members 73, 74 in a stepped insulating block 38. The coil 28 is held in position between the arms of a magnetic frame by a resilient member 44. The armature 47 has a recess in its lower end which receives a plurality of washers 50, a shock absorbing 0-ring 51 and a contact pressure spring 54 (Fig. 4, not shown) which urges a collar 52 of the rod into engagement with the washers to provide a lost motion connection between the armature and rod. The armature may operate a change-over contact set as shown, or a normally open set. In Figs. 6-9, not shown, three contactors are mounted together and electrically connected to control a series motor.
