Abstract

Concrete buildings; slab type.-Cottages and like buildings are formed by bolting together reinforced-concrete sections made beforehand and L-shaped so that each section forms part of a wall and floor or wall and roof. The sections are formed with ribs a to receive the bolts d; strips b of bitumen or other suitable material are placed in the joints, and wooden nailing fillets c, secured between the rabbeted inside edges of the flanges, facilitate the fixing of floor boards and fibrous plaster or asbestos sheets to the walls and ceiling. No lintels are required for window openings. For buildings of more than one storey, the floor of the upper storey is bolted to the ceiling of the lower storey.
