Abstract
1,171,092. Magnetic ore processing. AEROFALL MILLS Ltd. 16 Feb., 1968 [1 March, 1967], No. 7821/68. Heading B2J. A magnetic ore processing plant comprises a faster rotary magnetic separator 26 and a slower rotary magnetic separator 32 in series relationship so as to yield an ore concentrate tailings and a middlings product, a sensor 44 for sensing the quantity of ore concentrate separated out by the separator 26 and speed control means 48 responsive to the sensor for adjusting the speed of rotation of the motor 28 of the separator 26 so as to regulate the the quantity of ore separated. A sensor 52 is provided for sensing the proportion of magnetic material separated out by the slower separator 32 and speed control means 50 is provided for adjusting the speed of rotation of the motor 33 of the slower separator 32 so as to regulate the proportion of magnetic material separated out by the slower separator. Each separator comprises a cylindrical drum which is rotated about a stationary grouping of magnets the magnetically susceptible particles adhering to the drum until they pass out of the field of the magnets when they fall into the trough 34 or 40, the remainder of the material being flung off the drum into trough 30 or 38.
