Abstract

1,160,789. Ball mills: grinding cement. BUNKER-RAMO CORP. 23 Oct., 1967 [25 Oct., 1966], No. 48064/67. Heading B2A. In a cement grinding plant comprising a conveyer 34 for feeding new material and reject material to a ball mill 48 the output from which is fed to a separator 84, signals H and [i] representing respectively the hardness of the clinker and particle size distribution of the new material are fed to a digital computer 110 which generates output signals IM and DM controlling respectively motors 16, 22, 30 for determining the fresh input rate and the position of a damper blade 86 in the separator. The computer has also fed thereto signals [e], [f], [p] and '[r] representing the particle size distribution of respectively the ball mill input, the ball mill output, the product and the reject material. The feeding of the [p] and [r] signals to the computer updates its response to the H and [i] signals. The computer has further fed thereto signals I, P and R representing the flow rates of respectively new material, product and reject material. In the plant shown, the respective flow rates are determined by weigh belts 32, 102 and 46, and the position of the damper blade 86 is sensed by a sensor 88.
