Abstract
1,208,249. Controlling feed to grinding mills; grinding cement; tube mills. F. L. SMIDTH & CO. A.S. 1 May, 1969, No. 22313/69. Headings B2A. A grinding system, particularly for cement, is controlled by determining the circulation figure C which equals S/F where S is a separator fed and F the fire fraction from the separator, per unit time. The separator feed or fine or course fractions are determined by at least two radioactive type detectors, and the signals combined to give C. The system comprises a tube mill I fed by a weighing band the output being supplied via an elevator 4 to a separator 5. Measurement of S takes place at 10. Coarse material is recirculated at G. Fines are measured at 11. The mill is dedusted via a pipe 7, and dustfraction E after precipitation in an electro-filter 8 is mixed with the fraction F. A screw 12 takes a small sample to a specific surface meter 13. The separator 5 is controlled by adjustable louvre dampers to maintain an optimum value of C, in response to the signals derived at 10, 11 and the meter 13 signal (which is representative of fineness) controls the fresh feed rate P.
