Abstract

1,170,345. Collapsible tube. U.M.P. VENESTA Ltd. 10 July, 1968 [27 July, 1967]. No. 34508/67. Heading B8D. A collapsible metal tube formed by impact extrusion has a discharge nozzle 9 which is sealed at its free end by a tip 10 integral with the nozzle and coupled thereto by a wall portion of thickness less than the nozzle wall thickness to render the tip manually detachable. The tube is formed by a process in which a disc of metal is placed in a base die (Fig. 3, not shown) and struck by a plunger such that part of the metal is squeezed to form the shoulder 8 and nozzle of the tube while the remainder flows rearwardly around the plunger to form the cylindrical body. Specific dimensions of the tube are quoted by way of example. The tube may be closed by inserting an appropriately sized screw eye in the bore of the nozzle or a reclosure cap may be provided.
