Abstract

768,086. Piston extrusion apparatus. RUTHERFORD, J. E. Feb. 10, 1955 [Feb. 13, 1954], No. 4301/54. Class 102(2) A device for dispensing pastes comprises a wall plate 1 on which is guided an open bottomed container 3 for a capsule 9 of paste, e.g. toothpaste, with a slidable bottom 10 which abuts against the end of a fixed hollow plunger 4 so that when the container 3 is pressed down the paste is forced out of a nozzle 7a. The wall plate is formed with an undercut groove 2a in which engages a shoe 3a on the container, and has a shield 5 within which the container slides over the cylindrical plunger 4 The container has a top 7 with a hole 7a and a cap 8 which can be rotated to register an orifice 8a with the hole 7a. The sides of the shield 5 are cut away to accommodate finger grips 3b fixed to the container. Toothbrush holders may be fixed to the wall plate on either side of the container 3. The Provisional Specification describes another embodiment in which the container is fixed to the wall plate and a plunger is movable relatively to the container to force paste through the orifice.
