Abstract

1,168,689. Vehicle lamps. M.P. DEPUTY. 26 Sept., 1967 [12 June, 1967], No. 43771/67] Heading F4R. A vehicle fog lamp comprises a light source, a light filter and means for oscillating at least a major proportion of the light between high and low intensities. The lamp consists of a light source 15 mounted between a parabolic reflector 16 and an auxiliary reflector 18, a set of shutters 13 oscillating on pins 20 between a position in which they are fully open and one in which they are closed under the control of a member 24 driven by an eccentric pin on a disc 26 through an arm 28, and a filter disc 14 which may be blue or amber and is rotatable through 90 degrees about a vertical axis by means of a solenoid 36. The shutters are driven by an electric motor 30 through suitable gearing, energization of the motor causing the solenoid to bring the filter 14 into the operative position. In a modification, the parts 15, 16, 18 are replaced by a sealed beam lamp and a small lamp is also provided in the casing so that the light from the lamp is never reduced to zero. Alternatively, small gaps may be provided between the shutters for the same purpose. In another modification, the shutters are mounted on central axles carrying meshing gears driven from an electric motor.
