724,271. Anti-dazzle headlights. LOMAX, C. H. April 30, 1952 [April 30, 1951], No. 10031/51. Class 75 (4) An anti-dazzle device for a car headlight comprises a shield 15 mounted in front of the light source 12 and having at least one aperture 15b for the emission of light and driving means acting upon the periphery of the shield to rotate it about the axis of the headlight so that the aperture 15b moves continuously and slowly around the axis. The shield shown has two diametrically opposed elliptical apertures 15b, which collectively occupy between one half and three-quarters of the area of the shield. The shield is journaled on a bridgepiece 16 extending across a casing 33 clipped on to the front of the headlight and is driven at between 27 and 32 r.p.m. by an electric motor 20 and reduction gear housed laterally of the shield in the casing 33, the final wheel-of the reduction gear meshing with teeth 15a on the periphery of the disc. The front of the casing 33 is closed by a glass.
