Abstract

Road-traffic signals on vehicles.-A stopping and turning indicator for motor vehicles comprises rotatable lamps provided with opaque hands or arrows on their front glasses. Two lamps may be mounted at the front of the vehicle and take the place of the ordinary front lamps, and a lamp mounted at the rear may constitute the red rear light. As shown in Fig. 2 each front lamp comprises a casing carrying a glass c and plate d cut out to show a hand' &c., and attached to a drum e rotatably mounted on a stud f which carries an electric lamp. An opening v covered by a glass w and provided with a cover y cut out to show a hand &c. enables the driver to check the position of the front lamps. The rear lamp is provided with a red front glass, and has four additional lenses in such positions on the lamp casing that light is transmitted through openings in a stationary reflector on to the number plate for all signalling positions of the casing. The casings are rotated by Bowden wires from a drum located near the driver. Reference ha,s been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 112,180, 163,756, and 172,473.
