The lid is filled with similar material. A closure for the well preferably consists of a sheet-metal member provided with layers of the insulating material. In a modification, Fig. 3, a porcelain well d' and cover d<2> supported by wood fillets a<1> are fitted, and a felt or other insulating pad i may be placed in the bottom of the well. An insulated lid b with a hasp fastening b' is provided.
