372,025. Grilling and toasting apparatus. BELLS ASBESTOS & ENGINEERING SUPPLIES, Ltd., Bestobell Works, Slough, Buckinghamshire, and SCOTT, C. L., Leicester Arms Hotel, Penshurst, Kent. Dec. 11, 1931, No. 7909. [Class 28 (i).] A toasting or grilling device comprises a base a formed flat on its lower surface to afford good conductive contact with the hot plate of a cooker and provided on its upper surface with a series of transversely, circularly or similarly arranged continuous ribs b to form a grid to support the food, the ribs being integral with the base. The ribs may be parallel or concentric and they may be of sharp V-shaped cross section. As shown in the Figure, the base may be provided with a flange d which may serve to support a lid or cover e ; alternatively the base may be formed. with a groove to receive the rim of the lid or cover. The lid may be of double-walled construction and the double walls may enclose a heat-insulating material. The lid may be formed so as to permit the escape of steam. When the device is used with a cooker of the type in which the hot plate is normally covered by a lid, the lid of the cooker may be recessed so as to permit of its closing down upon the hot plate with the device in position upon the hot plate.
