Heat-retaining vessels. - In portable heat-retaining and cooking apparatus of the kind in which vessels 1 containing partly cooked food are placed in an insulated casing to complete the cooking, the inner vessel 1 is provided with a bail handle 7, Fig. 1, passing through a slot 14 in the cover of the outer casing, so that the whole apparatus is supported by the handle of the inner vessel. The casing has double walls 9<a>, 9<b> of stiff canvas or cardboard covered on the outside with waterproof fabric, with an intermediate filling of wood wool 10 or other insulating-material, and a loose cushion 20 filled with insulating-material is arranged between the inner vessel 1 and the cover of the casing, which is fastened by a strap and buckle. In a modification, Fig. 4, the bail handle 7<a> is attached to metal straps 22 embracing a series of superposed food vessels 1<b>, 1<a>. The lids of the food vessels are dished to accommodate a folding handle and, in the arrangement shown in Fig. 4, are secured by members 21a, 21b.
