Sawing-machine fences. - In circular-saw benches and band re-sawing machines wherein the fence d is adjustably mounted on a shaft b, a coarse adjustment is provided consisting of a shaft o mounted in the fence bracket f and carrying a pinion n which gears with rack teeth cut in the shaft b, a quickly-acting lever lock being provided to clamp the fence to the shaft b. The lock comprises sleeves p<1>, p<2> mounted on the shaft o and shaped so as to grip the shaft b between them when forced together by a hand-lever q, which is provided with a cam surface engaging a corresponding surface on the sleeve p<2>. The lever bears against lock-nuts r on the shaft o, and the sleeve p<1> against a shoulder o<2> on the shaft. Fine adjustment of the fence is effected by the usual nut c on a screw-threaded part b' of the shaft b. To enable the fence to be tilted, it is pivoted at d' to the bracket f and carries a canting- screw 9 which works in a nut formed on a bolt h'. The fence is supported by slotted links pivoted to it on a bolt i<1> and engaging the bolt h<1> to which they are clamped by a locking-lever k.
