Sawing and like cutting; tools; work-holders.- In a machine wherein a diamond or other precious stone is carried by a pivoted arm and cut by a circular saw, the saw is driven by means adjustably and detachably connected to its spindle, and the pivoted arm is longitudinally adjustable transversely to the axis of the saw. In the machine shown, the spindle 9 of the saw 8 has pointed ends supported between adjustable bearing-bushes carried within sleeves 12, 13, one of these bushes being spring-pressed; the spindle is driven by a collar 14 secured thereon and provided with wings 15 which interlock with radial slots 17 in a driving wheel or pulley 16, which is mounted loosely on one of the bearing-bushes. The diamond &c. is carried between screws 18 adjustably mounted in bosses 19 provided in a bracket 20 angularly adjustable in a sleeve 22 carried by the pivoted arm 23. The pivot 24 of the arm 23 is carried by a lever 26 adjustable along a screw 28; the slotted lower end of the lever 26 is slid'ably engaged by a finger 31 on a collar 32 containing a nut 33 which is adjusted by a screw 34 to effect longitudinal adjustment of the arm 23.
