Abstract

646,343. Grinding trimmer bits of saw trimmer machines. MOORE & SONS, Ltd., C. F., and MOORE, C. F. Oct. 25, 1948, No. 27707. [Class 60] A saw trimmer machine, as employed for cutting printer's rule strips, comprising a circular saw with trimmer bits set in the same on a circle between the saw teeth and the saw axle, the latter also carrying a grinding wheel for sharpening the trimmer bits, is provided with a jig or attachment for ensuring that all the bits of a set are sharpened identically. The attachment comprises a bracket 1, having a locating pin 2 and clamping screw 3 for securing it to the machine bed; a slide 5, adjustable on the bracket by screw 6, carries a spindle 9 on which is mounted a plate 10 with a series of radial slots 11 in which the bits A are secured, with their inner ends abutting the spindle 9, by pinching screws 13 carried by a clamping collar 12. The plate 10 is oscillated by a handle 14 to move the bits past the grinding wheel B.
