701,370. Wood-planing machines; grinding. WOMERSLEY & BROADBENT, Ltd. Jan. 30, 1953 [Jan. 29, 1952], No. 30321/52. Classes 60 and 145 (1) A work guide or fence 1 for a wood-working machine such as a surfacing or a combined surfacing and thicknessing machine, is movable transversely across the work table 2 and has bolted to it, or formed integrally with it, a bracket 8 carrying a vertically adjustable leg 10 on which is held a hone or abrasive member 13 for honing the blades of the cutter 3 by repeated traverses of the fence while the cutter is rotating. A clamp 12 and bolts 14 secure the hone on the leg and the leg is adjustable in a slot 9 in the bracket 8 by means of a screw 17, the leg being clamped in the adjusted position by a bolt 15 passing through a slot 16. Workholding means may be associated with the fence and calibration may be provided to indicate the setting of the leg 10.
