Abstract

221,531. Ashburne, H. April 23, 1923. Circular-saw machines. -Metal bars are cut by a pair of circular saws mounted on slides 2, 2A, which are moved towards each other by a right and left-handed feed-screw 5. The saws are rotated by worm gearing and the feed screw is driven by a worm wheel 6<A> which drops out of engagement with the worm 6 when a bar 15 is withdrawn by the motion of the slide 2<A>. The work is mounted in a chuck 7 rotated by means of a chain, sprockets 11 and bevel gearing 13.
