Regulating.-Carburetted air is supplied at constant or practically constant pressure, independent of variations in altitude or speed, by a pump supplying air to a reservoir fitted with a relief valve. The air may be carburetted before or after passing through the pump. In the form shown in Figs. 1 and 3, the piston D of a double-acting pump is formed on an extension of the engine piston A. The compressed-air reservoir R<1> is separated from the admission chamber R by a partition U provided with an adjustably-loaded double-seated relief valve S, the spring on which may be automatically controlled by an aneroid or other device,
