Abstract

116,440. New Rotoplunge Pump Co., Smith, C. Lakin-, and Beckwith, N. G. Oct. 17, 1917. Eccentric-actuated pumps; revolving-cylinder pumps.-In a rotary pump of the kind described in Specification 23948/13, wherein pistons, connected in pairs which operate in unison, rotate within a casing divided into suction and delivery chambers, the pairs of connected pistons 9 are made similar and interchangeable and are actuated by plane faces on an eccentrically mounted block, the corresponding pairs of cylinders are arranged in different planes to enable the pairs of pistons to be interlaced. The faced block 16 for actuating the pistons is mounted on an eccentric pin 13 on the end cover 10 of the casing. A slight clearance is provided between the rotor and casing so that a liquid seal is formed when the pump is working. In another form, means are provided to ensure constant delivery in one direction when the direction of rotation is reversed, and means comprising a pin on a revoluble plate carrying the eccentric pin, and a groove in the casing provided with two stops to engage the pin at the end of its travel in the groove. A pointer may be carried by the revoluble plate to indicate reversal of the eccentric. Lubricating grooves may be provided. Several rotors may be arranged on one eccentric pin supported at both ends, and the delivery of one rotor connected to the suction of the next.
