Abstract

1,163,116. Mangling and wringing apparatus. KODAK Ltd. 18 Nov., 1966 [18 Nov., 1965], No. 48991/65. Heading D1L. [Also in Division G2] A pair of rollers 22, 23, such as are used to remove liquid from a film strip in photographic processing apparatus, are mounted on respective shafts 24, 25 with their end faces 26, 27 offset with respect to each other. The shafts are supported in a journal plate 32. An end cap comprises a cup 31, slidable on shaft 25, bearing against a washer 28 which is a close sliding fit on roller 23. A spring 30, acting on cup 31, causes the washer to be pressed against the end face 26 of roller 22. A similar end cap arrangement is provided at the other end of the rollers. The purpose is to prevent liquid from creeping round the end faces of the rollers from the "dry" side to the "wet" side, and so wetting the edges of the film strip as it emerges from the "dry" side, as in Figs. (not shown) 1 and 2.
