Abstract

<PICT:0887294/III/1> A paint roller 1 is combined with a paint brush 11 which is disposed substantially in parallelism with the roller and positioned so as to sweep over and even out the paint applied by the roller. As shown the roller 1 of foam rubber has an axial bore through which extends a tube housing a spindle 3 supported in bearing plates 5 bridging the ends of a trough-like shield 6 of sheet metal or polyethylene; alternatively, the roller is provided with stub axles. To permit easy removal of the roller one end of the spindle is bent and is a press or snap fit between a pair of tongues of a catch plate. The stock 10 of the paint brush is received or slid endways into a channel 9. A brush may be provided on each side of the roller, and the brushes may have flanges 12 for catching paint drips.
