A collapsible box, e.g. for instrument housings, laboratory equipment and laboratory furniture, comprises base and cover elements a, Figs. 1, 2, and two side elements b interconnected by stepped flanges 1-4, 5, 6 and slots 51, as in Fig. 3, with a closure frame (c), Fig. 4 (not shown), surrounding the edges of the side element b. Stepped reinforcement bars g, Fig. 5, have slots, parallel to a surface 12, in a surface 11, to engage a surface 4 of the base and cover elements a. Fig. 6 (not shown), shows the box partitioned by a plate (#), having a slot to engage each surface (4), with reinforcing bars (g), also fitted to the surface 4, on each side of the plate (#). Alternatively, in Fig. 7, the box is partitioned by a frame h, itself partitioned by the plate f and reinforcing bars g, the frame engaging in slots 15. The plates f may alternatively be mounted between two frames h, or one frame h and one base &c. element a, or two base and cover elements a.
