Abstract

1,160,516. Centrifugal casting-machines. SHAHMOON INDUSTRIES Inc. 17 Oct., 1966 [23 Oct., 1965], No. 46404/66. Heading B3F. In a centrifugal casting machine for casting pipes in moulds 40 the moulds are arranged in pairs on a shuttle car or cars 14 and moved along a track 12 from a pouring station to a pull and spray station where the cast pipe is extracted and the mould sprayed internally with a coating material. The pipe is extracted by a pull head 60 mounted on a movable cylinder 62 moved hydraulically relative to a fixed piston. The pull head comprises a support arm and a shoe 120 tiltably mounted thereon and tilted, when the pull head has been inserted into a pipe, by an air cylinder 126. The spray head is mounted opposite the pull head 60 and comprises spray lances 70 mounted on a bracket connected to a movable cylinder 72. One movable cylinder carries two lances 70 for coating both moulds 40 simultaneously whereas two separate pull heads 60 are mounted individually on separate movable cylinders. The lances 70 may be supported by rollers at 74 and the sprayed coating material may be a silica flour and bentonite suspension in water.
