Abstract

1280205 Continuous casting ERIK OLSSON AG 18 July 1969 [19 July 1968] 36286/69 Heading B3F A continuous casting machine has a tundish 2 connected to a mould 6 by a nozzle 4 extending into the mould 6 and means for supporting the mould so that it is movable longitudinally of the nozzle 4 and for allowing adjustment of the angle between the longitudinal axes of the nozzle and mould. The supporting means consists of two universal joints 26, 28; 30, 32 one of which 26, 28 is mounted on a sliding mould base 20, the other 30, 32 being connected to the tundish by a collar 34 mounted on the nozzle 4. The tundish is also mounted on a sliding base 10. When the nozzle and mould are out of engagement the mould is supported on a jack 36. In another embodiment (not shown) the universal joint is replaced by an hydraulic or pneumatic weight equalizer (44). When the nozzle and mould are out of engagement, the mould is supported by an erectable fork (50).
