Abstract

1,240,856. Casting machines. A. W. PLUME Ltd. 29 Sept., 1969 [2 Oct., 1968], No. 46684/68. Heading B3F. A die-casting apparatus includes a press 3 having an upper platen 4 and lower platen 5 movable on a track 7 in a generally horizontal direction into and away from a casting position in which the press 3 is disposed above a riser cap 10 of a furnace 1 with a bore in the lower platen 5 in communication with the riser cap, the track being shaped so that when the press is moved to the casting position, the press is lowered until the lower platen rests upon the riser cap 10. This may be achieved by shaping the end portions of the track 7 e.g. as shown in Fig. 4.
