Abstract

1280138 Continuous casting machines CONCAST AG and SCHLOEMANN AG 19 April 1971 [7 April 1970] 26394/71 Heading B3F A continuous casting installation comprises a foundry hall 1, an adjacent side hall 2, a casting platform 3 extending into both halls, and tundish carriages 35 and 36 movable on the casting platform from a position above a continuous casting mould (6) in the foundry hall 1 along tracks 39 and 40 to heating stations 33 and 34 in the side hall 2, the tracks changing direction in proceeding from above the mould to the heating stations. Thus the tracks may be shaped as shown or they may be in the form of two curves extending one on either side of the mould. Each tundish carriage may be attached to an arm pivoted at the centre of the track curve, the wheels of the carriage running on the flat surface of the casting platform. When rails are provided the two tracks remain separate although spaced closely adjacent one another in the region above the mould.
