Abstract

1,159,500. Aircraft undercarriages; detachable axles. MESSIER. 3 March, 1967 [7 March, 1966], No. 10192/67. Headings B7D and B7G. An aircraft undercarriage comprises a fork of which one arm 1 carries a shaft 2 and two wheels 3 and 4, and the other arm 7 is pivoted carrying a third wheel 11 on a stub shaft 10, which can be coupled by a removable pin 9 to form an extension of the shaft 2. The fork may be either the sliding element of a telescopic strut, or the pivoted arm of a " lever type " undercarriage. The wheels may have brakes 5, 6 and 12, the pressurized fluid for brake 12 being supplied either through flexible pipes or through pipes with rotatable joints, to accommodate the pivoting of the arm 7. The arm 7 is pivotable to allow access to the centre wheel 4 for maintenance.
