Abstract
115,802. Bentley, O. D. H., and Caracristi, V. Z. April 9, 1917, [Convention date]. Driving-mechanism.-The governor 9 controlling the throttle valve 8 of a turbine or other engine is driven from the turbine or other shaft 11 through friction disks 13, 14, shaft 15, gear-wheels 16, 17, and shaft 10. The disk 14 is adjustable along the shaft 15 relatively to the centre of the disk 13 by a shaft 22 through bevel-gears 21, a threaded shaft 20, and a threaded sleeve 19 carrying a forked arm 18 engaging a sleeve 30 on the disk. The disk 13 is enclosed in a casing 23, 24 provided with a web 25 carrying bearings for the shaft 20. On the shaft 20 is pivoted a casing 26 provided with bearings for the shaft 15 and pressed towards the disk 13 by a spring 29<a>, so that the disk 14 is always held against the disk 13. The shaft 20 is co-axial with the shaft 10 so that the swinging movement of the casing 26 does not interfere with the meshing of the wheels 16, 17.
