Control Of Throttle Valves Provided In The Intake System Or In The Exhaust System
(AREA)
Abstract
23,055. Dawson, Sir A. T., and Horne, J. Oct. 9. Regulating delivery by varying speed and power of motor.-Relates to a combination of speed and pressure governors for hydraulic pumping-engines. The speed governor A, Fig. 1, and the pressure governor B, both act on the engine throttle valve C through the medium of the floating lever F' and rod f<4>. The safety catch D is adapted to hold the throttle valve closed, if the speed exceeds a certain maximum, but in the event of a rapid acceleration of the engine, the balls of the speed governor would move out to their full extent, and thus engage the catch D. In order to avoid this, the dasb-pot E is interposed between the stationary bracket A<1x> and the end of the floating lever F<1>.
