Abstract
184,568. Dearle, G., and Gardiner, H. W. May 17, 1921. No Patent granted (Sealing fee not paid). Variable-speed gearing comprises a governorcontrolled roller e driven through idle discs d from a disc a, which may be driven through a clutch c from the engine b of a motor-vehicle. The inner faces of the discs d are pressed against the roller e by springs l, and the edges of the discs d are pressed against the face of the disc o by springs m. The governor g acting against a spring causes the roller e to slide on a tail shaft f so that the speed of the latter varies automatically. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 22979/00, 9471/06, 13490/06, 25928/11, and 139,249.
