Abstract
1,154,477. High-voltage switches. ALLMANNA SVENSKA ELEKTRISKA A.B. 14 Oct., 1966 [15 Oct., 1965], No. 45917/66. Heading H1N. The counter contact of a pantograph type of isolating switch comprises three bars 23, 24, 25 arranged to be gripped by the moving contact consisting of tongs 19, 20 which are closed by the upward movement of the pantograph (5, 6, 7, Fig. 1, not shown) when an insulator (15) is rotated by hand operating mechanism (16). The bars 23, 24, 25 are suspended from an overhead bus-bar (3) by flexible connectors (2) and the central bar 23 is resiliently displaced out of the plane of the bars 24, 25 by springs (29, Fig. 3, not shown) carried on brackets (28) bridging bars 24, 25, such that closure of tongs 19, 20 urges bar 23 substantially into the plane of bars 24 and 25 against the spring force, thereby ensuring a predetermined contact pressure with visual indication that it has been obtained. The tongs 19, 20 may be of aluminium with copper inserts 21 and 22. The insert 22 comprises two parts as shown, or has longitudinal ridges, to provide two points of contact with bar 23, while insert 21 provides a point of contact with each bar 24 and 25. Bars 23, 24 and 25 have rounded contact faces to ensure point contact.
