Abstract

1,153,257. Transistor switching circuits; circuits employing magnetic storage elements. SIEMENS A.G. 24 May, 1967 [25 May, 1966], No. 24105/67. Headings H3B and H3T. The voltage supply to a constant current device feeding a load comprises a capacitor arranged to provide a higher voltage while the current is building up and a diode connected across the capacitor and to a voltage source to thereafter supply a lower voltage. The circuit shown feeds a pulse to a core storage line, the far end of which is short circuited so that when the reflected pulse returns to terminating resistor 7 the line appears as a short circuit (Fig. 1, not shown). The pulse begins when a constant current transistor T1 is rendered conducting, the initial supply voltage being equal to that of a higher voltage of a supply U2 due to the charge on C but as this discharges the effective supply voltage drops to U1. Energy loss in T1 is thereby reduced. The charging resistor R2 may be replaced by a transistor S rendered conducting when T1 is off. The capacitor C may alternatively be charged from U1 via a transformer (Fig. 4, not shown).
