Abstract
1,149,186. Sieve drum driers. VEPA A.G. 12 July, 1966 [6 Aug., 1965], No. 31219/66. Heading F4G. In a method for drying textile material, e.g. wool, the material is pre-dried by subjection to a heat shock, i.e. heated to a temperature which would damage the material if it had not a moisture content above that finally desired, and thereafter dried in a main drying stage. The material is passed through a closed housing 1 by conveyer elements, e.g. sieve drum, which housing is divided into several chambers 3, 4 heated to differing temperatures. An opening device 9 and a conveyer belt or sieve drum may be mounted between the predrying chamber 3 and main drying chamber 4 and a cooling chamber may follow the chamber 4. Separate air discharges 6 may be provided for each chamber and additional electric highfrequency or infra-red radiation heating may be provided. The material may be banked-up or compressed on the conveying elements of the chamber 4.
