In apparatus for drying clay or ceramic products, the products 10 pass directly from the die of a press on a conveyer 2 through a tunnel drier in an atmosphere of superheated steam created by water vapour produced in the tunnel from the moisture contained in the products by a heating oven 5, additional heater 13 and a heating jacket 12 provided with a heat insulation layer and the atmosphere which is at a pressure at least equal to atmospheric is set in movement by a circulation fan 14. The tunnel may be divided by curtains into zones and have automatic temperature control devices 9, and the jacket may have a pressure relief valve 4 and air intake valve 6.
