Abstract
1,148,298. Switch gear structures; vacuum switches. ENGLISH ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. 21 March, 1968 [23 Dec., 1966], No. 57640/66. Heading H1N. In electrical switch gear comprising a horizontal draw-out portion 14 with a pair of horizontally-disposed isolating contacts 30, 33, a vacuum interrupter 36 and fuse 47 are series connected thereto within the draw-out portion. The fuse 47 interrupts the circuit on fault currents in excess of the maximum breaking current of the vacuum interrupter. In the example shown the fuse 47 is mounted between one isolating contact 33 and the fixed contact 43 of the vacuum circuit-breaker, the other isolating contact 30 being connected by flexible cable 50 to the movable contact 42 of the circuit breaker. An arrangement with two series - connected vacuum circuit-breakers, mounted side-by-side is referred to.
