Abstract

1326220 Switchgear structures S & C ELECTRIC CO 8 Sept 1970 [22 Sept 1969] 42929/70 Heading H1N A ring main switching assembly comprises ring main switches 32, 34, connected in series, and an isolator switch 28 connected between the common connection between the ring main switches and a fuse 24 leading to the load. The stationary contacts 33, 31 and 29, together with arc chutes 107, 108, 109, are mounted on a fixed stack of insulators. The movable switch blades 41, 35, 27 of the respective switches are mounted on rotatable stacks of insulators 78, 73, 96, operated through linkages 84, 83, 100. The linkages are associated with manually charged spring operators 89, 90, 103. Earthing switches 37, 43 having switch blades 38, 44, respectively, mounted on rotatable metallic shafts 112, 113, are operated through linkages 116, 117, respectively. The fuses 24a, 24b, 24c are mounted on a horizontally slidable drawer 18. A second fuse (55) and associated isolator switch (62) for each phase, supplying an additional load and connected in parallel with the first, may be mounted in a further drawer (see Fig. 3, not shown). In the arrangement shown in Fig. 6 (not shown), only the operating member for the fuse isolator switch is located at the front of the housing, the others being at the rear, to avoid confusion.
