[Also in Division E2] Means for fastening a sign 12 to a post 11 comprises a saddle 13 including a substantially U-shaped part adapted to embrace said post, a first clamping plate 14 secured to said saddle to clamp said saddle to said post, and a second clamping plate 16 secured to said first clamping plate and said saddle to clamp said sign between said first and said second clamping plates, said first and second clamping plates and said saddle being bolted together by bolts 18 passing through the legs of the saddle and said clamping plates. In the construction shown the saddle is a onepiece post but in a modification it consists of two Z-shaped hooks one extremity of each of which engages the post. The bolts 18 as shown engage in screw threaded bores formed in the clamping plate 16 but in a modification the bolts pass through plain holes in the plate 16 and nuts are provided. The plate 14 is provided with a row of projections 22 which face the plate 16 and form a fulcrum about which the two plates can pivot in relation to one another; in a modification the row of projections 22 is replaced with a ridge. Alternatively the plate 16 can have projections or a ridge. A spring 23 engages the edge portions of the plates 14 and 16 adjacent the projections or ridge so that the opposite edge portions of the plate are urged apart; alternatively one or both of the clamping plates is formed with a lip adjacent the projections or ridge. The saddle is provided with a projection 25 which bites into the posts.
