Abstract

Revolving-cylinder pumps; compound piston pumps; heat of compression, absorbing.-Openended internal-combustion engine cylinders 6 and pump cylinders (not shown) are secured in a casing 3 which rotates inside a stationary casing 1 containing mixture admission and exhaust ports 14a, 18 respectively, the admission port 14<a> opening to the delivery passage from the pumps. Water or other cooling liquid containing lubricant is circulated throughout the two casings by centrifugal force, communication between the casings being established through peripheral ports, not shown, in the contacting surfaces x y. These surfaces have longitudinal and transverse grooves which facilitate the passage of the cooling fluid carrying the lubricant. A modification is described in which the two sets of cylinders comprise a stage compressor.
