Abstract

1,145,280. Annealing stainless steel. STAHLWERKE SUDWESTFALEN A. G. Jan. 13, 1966 [Jan.15, 1965], No.1633/66. Heading C7A. Ferritic stainless steel sheet containing 14%- 20% by weight of chromium is, after cold-rolling, finish annealed under such conditions of time and temperature that not more than 10% of martensite is formed in the structure; it is stated that this treatment inhibits "raping" of the steel. Prior to cold-rolling the steel may be annealed in the range 780‹ -930‹ C. The process is preferably applied to steels containing in percentage by weight; Cr 14-20 Ni 0-0À75 C 0 - 0À1 Mo 0 - 1À5 Mn 0 - 1 Si 0 - 1 P 0 - 0À04 S 0 - 0À03 Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification, 1, 041, 636.
